Plant Knowledge Level
i inherited this plant from a coworker and I’m concerned something is wrong with it given the condition of the leaves. I’m not sure what kind of plant it is. Any suggestions on how to take care of it?
Hi Moira! It looks like you have a green Dracaena marginata from the photos, and its symptoms look like a result of overwatering. This could've been caused by watering the plant before its ready, or insufficient light levels keeping the soil too moist. Dracaenas can tolerate lower light, but will thrive better in medium-bright light conditions and should be allowed to dry out completely between waterings. Therefor, I'd either increase the plants exposure to light or watering less frequently. You can prune the damaged leaf tips back to shape to enhance the appearance without having to remove entire leaves!
