  • I don’t know what’s wrong with my Monstera!
Recently there have been blackish yellow spots developing on older leaves on my monstera. I’m not sure what this could be or what to do about it. Roots are also popping up out of the top of the soil so could it just need a new pot or are these signs of root rot? Any advice works!

Paris Lalicata Hi Allie! It looks like the symptoms could be a result of over watering - either if the plant isn't receiving enough light, was watered before it was ready, or too much water was poured in if there's no drainage. Alternatively if you make an environmental assessment and everything checks out then it's possible a fungal infection developed if the spots spread to other leaves!

Nate Hey Allie, can you check the dirt around the roots? I wouldn't be too concerned about the aerial roots, but I would probably start troubleshooting in the root area. Is it too dry or too moist...
